Get Carter (or possibly Woodlet)

Posted by Picasa
During the last weekend visit back to Newcastle and Sunderland to see Gladys, we went to see our pal Terry, who has just moved into a flat in Gateshead. The car park there looks out onto one of the most disliked buildings on Tyneside, which is the 1960s concrete, multi-storey car-park that domintes the Gateshead skyline. Hideous though it is, it is still part of the national heritage in a way, as it was the location for the scene in the original film 'Get Carter' where Michael Caine throws another hoodlum from it's roof.

I'm pleased to say that Gladys and I didn't get to that stage, although it could have been a possibility a couple of weeks previously. We had a very pleasant weekend together this time.

The BBC has an interesting feature on it, including some 360 degree views. Here is another fascinating site that compares locations in the film with the present day. Congratulations on that one!
